It is a night and day difference... I am a super light user who doesn't do any intensive tasks except for chrome tabs.
Since MacOS uses 2-3gb to desktop that leaves only 5-6gb for apps... If choice of a M3 8gb or a M1 or M2 Pro with 16gb there is no contest.
The 14” M2 pro got you a pro chip and 16gb of ram as standard... Now the M3 base model has half the ram and the bottom tier non-pro processor.
The 8gb M3 MacBook Pro is for people who don't do anything too intensive, but still want the nicer screen, refresh rate, better speakers, and ports.
