Frigidaire EFIC228-SS Premium Nugget Ice Maker
Community verdict
The Frigidaire EFIC228-SS provides an accessible entry point for chewable nugget ice, but long-term reliability concerns cloud its initial value. Satisfied buyers praise its affordable price point, compact countertop footprint, and enjoyable ice texture compared to more expensive competitors. However, a significant portion of owners report severe durability issues after a few months, including loud motor grinding noises, mechanical jams, and non-existent replacement parts for repairs.

Frigidaire nugget ice maker— the greatest $200 impulse purchase of my life
The pros: it's lightweight and the water chamber can drain right from the bottom. The cons: this thing is loud.
4 months in and it is making a horrible high pitched whining noise from the engine and it feels like it is getting hot.
The noise doesn't stop unless the machine is unplugged... Not sure where to start to figure out what's wrong
