I'm happy with my Austin Air Healthmate+, but I too agree that it's way overpriced.
Unfortunately the Austin Air has a very low CADR rating .A good sub $200 purifier ( Coway , Winix ) easily trounces it.
What I like about it is there are minimal points of failure, made with almost no plastics, and the filters last 5 years.
It's nice and compact at 11″L x 11″W x 16.5″H... and I love that you don't have to replace the filter for 5 years.
